"Calling This Home: An Oral History of Refugee Resettlement to the Bay Area"

Thanks to generous funding from the California Council for the Humanities' California Story Fund, I will be working with the International Rescue Committee-SF Regional Office to compile a multi-media oral history collection of refugee resettlement to the Bay Area.

Middlebury Fellowships In Environmental Journalism

Honored and overwhelmed with gratitude at this announcement. As a Fellow in Environmental Journalism, I'll be spending the year researching and writing about environmental migrants and their search for protection under international law. If all goes as planned, I'll spend time asking questions and listening to stories in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia--as well as my U.S. homes of Vermont and California. Luckiest of all, perhaps, is that I'm in such amazing company with the mentors and writers involved in this Fellowship. Thank you, Middlebury!

Honored to have my words on these (recycled) pages. Former issues of Orion's "The Place Where You Live" include an essay by the lovely and talented Robin MacArthur.
